Rare Padparadscha-Color Spinel – Burma – Ex. Herb Obodda Collection

An exceptionally rare Burmese Spinel displaying a beautiful padparadscha-like color, with a lovely balance of salmon pink, peach and warm coral tones. This unusual color is seldom encountered in Spinel, particularly in a gemstone weighing nearly 2.5 carats.

Burma's legendary Mogok gem fields have produced some of the world's finest Spinels, although this particular pinkish-orange color is far less familiar than the classic reds and hot pinks.

What makes this gemstone even more special is its provenance. It comes from the collection of Herbert Obodda, one of the best-known names in American mineral collecting and dealing, with a career dating back to 1957. The stone retains its original H. Obodda envelope, documenting its association with his collection, along with the original weight of 2.48 carats and dimensions of 10 × 7.2 mm.

A wonderful combination of rare color, impressive size and distinguished collecting history
