Who the heck are we?

We're a team of gem and mineral enthusiasts. We spend most of our waking hours thinking about, working with, and sourcing gems and minerals from around the world.


We started Gem Dragon Auctions with a vision. All too often, auctions can end up being a disappointment for the customer because the item they were so excited to win was not photographed correctly, graded correctly or the auction was used to sell a substandard gem or mineral. We know, because early in our gem gem and mineral obsession, we participated in practically every auction out there!


Our vision is to shatter the idea that auctions are for less-than-ideal gems and minerals. We start with unaltered photographs and videos of our items. We provide accurate and complete descriptions of our gems and minerals and our GIA graduate gemologist provides expert grading of our gemstones.


Our team of experts inspect every item carefully, so that every customer can have peace of mind when placing their bids. We guarantee the authenticity of all our items and offer a satisfaction guarantee with no-questions-asked returns.

How do I place a bid?

In order to participate in Gem Dragon Auctions, you must first register for an account. You can register here. Once your account is created, you're approved to begin bidding. Please note that failure to fully complete the registration form, or providing false information, will result in your account and bidding privileges being terminated.

What happens if I win an auction(s)?

Immediately following an auction close, invoices are automatically sent to the email registered to your account. If you win one or more items, you'll receive separate invoices to your email. Follow the link in the email to be returned to your Gem Dragon Auction account and you'll be able to check the boxes to pay for all your items with a single payment and combined shipping.

How long do I have to pay for an auction I win?

Auction items must be paid within 7 days of auction close. We are very strict about this. As a small auction house, we depend on folks being responsible auction participants. We understand that sometimes life events happen, but it is incumbent on you to reach out to us if you are unable to pay within the 7 days. We will endeavor to work with you. Repeated non-payments within 7 days will result in bidding privileges being revoked.

What payment methods are accepted?

Paypal, credit cards and Shop Pay (Shopify's payment plan) are integrated into the website to accept payments. If you would like to pay via Venmo, bank wire or personal check, please contact us at Gemdragonauctions@gmail.com for details.

Can I return an item?

We want you to bid with complete confidence. We are one of the only auction houses that offer videos and multiple photos of the vast majority of the items we auction. In addition, we have a graduate gemologist on staff that grades the majority of our gemstones and provides accurate grading and item descriptions. We are serious about providing accurate photos/videos and grading descriptions. Even with all of these measures in place, there are rare occasions when an item does not meet a client's expectations or needs. In these rare instances, we want you to know that we will take any unaltered item back. Items shipped in the USA come with a 7 day inspection period. Returned items must be in the mail back to us within 7 days of receipt. For international destinations, we allow 14 days for the item to be returned to us. We do not refund any shipping or any other fees associated with the purchase.

How do I cancel a bid?

Email us at Gemdragonauctions@gmail.com to cancel a bid. Please be aware that we are located in Portland, Oregon on Pacific Standard/Daylight Time. It is very difficult for us to cancel a bid at the last second so please keep this in mind.

When will my item(s) ship?

We ship items the week following the auction close. Tracking information and updates are sent to the email provided at registration.

How long does it take for me to receive my item(s)?

You'll see a variety of shipping options when you pay your invoice. Shipping speed is determined by the shipping service selected. Domestic shipping can be 2-7 days and international 7-21 days. These are the estimates provided by the shipping company and are not our estimates. We have zero control over shipping delays caused by the shipping company or customs. We will not get involved with shipping company delays until 6 weeks after we have shipped the parcel.

How we feel about non-payers?

Bidding and winning in our auctions is a financial commitment we require our buyers to fulfill. We are a small business that relies on the integrity of our bidders. If payment is not possible, we ask that you abstain from participating in our auctions. We have systems in place to identify non-payers and prevent them from bidding in the future. To avoid being placed on our non-payer list, be sure to fulfill your financial obligations or avoid bidding entirely.
