Oregon Sunstone

Gorgeous matched pair of Golden Oregon Sunstone

Oregon Sunstone is a rare gemstone that was honored as Oregon's state gem in 1987. Before the discovery at the Ponderosa mine, the term "sunstone" referred to feldspar minerals with a glittery effect or golden sheen, a phenomenon known as aventurescence.

Depending on the abundance and size of the copper trace elements and platelets within the gem material, the color may vary from colorless to yellow, orange, brown, pink, red, green, blue-green and multi-colored. Copper can create a range of shades from green, yellow, orange to red.

This particular pair of gems have a gorgeous soft gold body color with shimmering clouds of copper schiller that is revealed when you turn the stone. These will make an amazing piece of jewelry!
