Gorgeous Multi-hued mixed cut oval Oregon Sunstone
Oregon Sunstone is a rare gemstone that was honored as Oregon's state gem in 1987. Before the discovery at the Ponderosa mine, the term "sunstone" referred to feldspar minerals with a glittery effect or golden sheen, a phenomenon known as aventurescence.
Depending on the abundance and size of the copper trace elements and platelets within the gem material, the color may vary from colorless to yellow, orange, brown, pink, red, green, blue-green and multi-colored. Copper can create a range of shades from green, yellow, orange to red.
This particular gem has a gorgeous soft palette of hues from yellow to orange to a sultry red. Top eye clean and a wonderful addition to any world class collection.
