New find Tanzanite crystals from Kalalani in Tanzania’s Umba Valley. A few Tanzanite samples from the area were documented decades ago, but this is new production from a find that is only beginning to produce and so far in very small amounts.
These are alluvial crystals with natural color, rounded edges and some really interesting surface etching. Very different from the classic Merelani material, and the limited production makes the locality especially interesting right now.
7 crystals / largest purple one is 16 x 7.5 mm / 7.9 total grams
