Color-change garnet from Kamtonga in the Taita-Taveta region of Kenya. Old material from an older collection, and an unusually large piece for this locality.
Strong change from pinkish-red/purple to a lighter greenish-gold depending on the light source. It is not perfectly clean. There is a veil running across the stone about a third of the way down, along with some smaller inclusions, so the cutter will need to make some decisions.
