A richly colored Andesine with beautiful coral-red and raspberry tones, from material marketed as Tibetan Andesine. These gemstones became the center of a major gemological controversy in the mid-2000s, when investigations revealed that much of the red Andesine entering the market had been artificially colored through copper diffusion. What was once sold as a rare natural gemstone has since become an interesting chapter in modern gemological history.
We believe this stone may be diffusion-treated, although its treatment status has not been independently verified. An attractive gemstone with an unusual story and particular interest for collectors of gemological curiosities
