Japanese Rainbow Garnet

This Rainbow Garnet from Nara Prefecture, Japan, displays vibrant iridescence with flashes of orange, yellow, and green. Its striking play-of-color is caused by interference coloration, where thin layers within the crystal structure diffract light into a spectrum of hues. Known for their rarity and optical brilliance, Rainbow Garnets from this region are highly prized among collectors. The geological conditions in Nara Prefecture have produced some of the finest examples of this unique garnet variety.

What makes these even more special is the insight from our supplier:  "The guy who polished them will no longer be doing that, so what you have and what's left in Japan is all there will be.'".... No more...Guy is very elderly. When he polished them he was adjusting angles so the rainbow is visible not just from the top but even from the side. He planned every stone to give it maximum rainbow performance"
