Peridot on Matrix – Spat Gali, Pakistan

A sharply formed, translucent green peridot crystal sits on a contrasting white matrix from Spat Gali, Karan, Kaghan Valley, Pakistan. The host rock is likely marble or serpentinized peridotite, both common in peridot-rich deposits. The peridot displays natural surface textures and internal features characteristic of material from this region.

The matrix also contains dark blue to black mineral inclusions, possibly spinel, magnetite, or chromite, all of which are typical in peridot-bearing ultramafic rocks. Additionally, small secondary green crystals appear to be either peridot or diopside, another mineral often found in these geological settings.

This specimen provides an excellent representation of how peridot naturally forms in high-temperature, high-pressure environments, with its surrounding minerals offering insight into the geological history of the region.
