This material is from the famous Sleeping Beauty Mine in Globe, Arizona, which produced some of the world’s most recognizable turquoise. Known for its pure, robin’s-egg blue without matrix, Sleeping Beauty became the standard for top-quality turquoise in both the jewelry trade and among collectors.
This cabochon comes from old-stock material, mined before the Sleeping Beauty Mine closed in 2012. Stones from older collections are increasingly rare and highly sought after, as no new production of this legendary turquoise is available
