Rhodolite - Tanzania

Parcel of natural rhodolite garnet rough showing a range of rich purplish-red to raspberry tones. Rhodolite is a garnet variety that sits between pyrope and almandine, and its color varies depending on the relative balance of iron and magnesium in the crystal chemistry, as well as minor trace elements present during formation. These chemical differences are what cause rhodolite to span from brighter pinkish reds to deeper wine and violet-leaning shades within the same parcel.
