Bolivian Ametrine

This precision-faceted ametrine shows a dramatic mix of violet and golden zones, blended into a kaleidoscopic display by the masterful cutting style. The cutter, based in Southeast Asia, has created a design that maximizes brilliance and highlights the natural bicolor transition unique to this gem. Ametrine is a natural variety of quartz that combines amethyst and citrine within a single crystal, a phenomenon caused by differing oxidation states of iron during the crystal’s growth. The only significant commercial source is the Anahí mine in Bolivia, making fine ametrine both distinctive and geographically unique.
