New tourmaline has started coming out of Calabar, Nigeria. The rough shows a mix of pinks, bluish and lavender tones as well as several other combinations. What makes this material stand out is the C-axis on many of the pieces— many stones have unusual and dramatic color on the C. It’s an early find from the area, and it’s producing rough that looks very different from the better-known Nigerian tourmaline sources
