Tanzanite is a variety of zoisite discovered in the late 1960s and remains one of the most celebrated gem finds of the 20th century, known for its trichroic nature and vivid coloration. The Merelani deposit in northern Tanzania is the world’s only source, making all tanzanite both rare and region-specific.
