Sunset Orange Juniper Ridge Fire Opal.
This material, unique to Oregon, stands out for its clarity and color consistency—especially in larger sizes like this. Unlike precious opal, fire opal doesn’t rely on play-of-color, but on bold, iron-rich tones like the one you see here.
The Juniper Ridge deposit produced a limited run of gem-quality opal before commercial activity ceased, making top-color stones increasingly difficult to replace in today’s market.
Photography is done with a 10x macro lens, so you might see things in the photographs that you will not see with the unaided eye.
