Haüyne - Germany

Haüyne from Eifel, Germany - the bluest of all blue gemstones

Haüyne is a rare feldspathoid mineral in the sodalite group, known for its vivid blue color and scarcity in gem-quality specimens. It forms in volcanic environments, primarily within phonolite and basaltic lava flows, and is highly valued by collectors. While some haüyne specimens exhibit strong fluorescence under UV light due to sulfur-rich inclusions, not all display this property, as fluorescence depends on trace element composition. With a hardness of 5.5–6 on the Mohs scale, haüyne is relatively soft and best suited for collection rather than daily wear in jewelry.
